Supply and demand determine the price of any item, residential real estate included. If many people are looking to buy an item, but the supply of that item is rather limited, the price of that item will increase. The same trend occurs with homes.
The supply of homes increases rather dramatically around spring time of each year. Spring is the busiest time of year to buy and sell homes. Putting your home on the market now, instead of waiting around until spring will help to avoid the increased competition.
Buyers in the market during the winter season tend to be much more motivated to purchase and purchase quickly. Also, with the limited housing inventory in the winter, sellers are more able to negotiate for the best possible price.
